Envision Energy Establishes Cape Town Base to Expand Southern African Clean Energy Operations

Global renewable energy technology provider Envision Energy has strengthened its presence in Africa with the launch of a regional office in Cape Town, positioning the company to capitalise on growing demand for renewable power and energy storage solutions across Southern Africa.

The new office underscores Envision Energy’s long-term commitment to the South African market, which continues to emerge as one of the continent’s most significant destinations for clean energy investment. From its Cape Town headquarters, the company will support the deployment of utility-scale wind projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and integrated renewable energy technologies throughout the region.

The expansion forms part of Envision Energy’s wider African strategy to accelerate the deployment of low-carbon infrastructure, improve electricity reliability and support the continent’s decarbonisation agenda.
According to Senior Vice President Kane Xu, establishing a permanent presence in South Africa marks a pivotal step in the company’s regional growth plans.

He said South Africa occupies a strategic position in the global energy transition, making it a priority market for Envision Energy’s long-term investment strategy. Xu added that a local office would strengthen collaboration with customers, developers and industry stakeholders while enabling the company to deliver advanced renewable energy and storage technologies tailored to regional requirements.

The Cape Town office is expected to serve as Envision Energy’s operational hub for Southern Africa, providing technical, commercial and project support as demand for renewable energy infrastructure continues to increase.

The official opening attracted senior government representatives, energy executives, customers and business partners, highlighting the importance of international investment in South Africa’s evolving electricity sector.
South Africa’s Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, welcomed the company’s decision to establish local operations, describing it as a positive signal of investor confidence in the country’s energy reforms and long-term economic prospects.

The investment comes at a time when South Africa is accelerating efforts to diversify its generation mix, expand renewable energy capacity and strengthen grid resilience. As renewable penetration grows, battery energy storage is becoming increasingly important in balancing supply, improving system flexibility and supporting grid stability.

Envision Energy also intends to use its South African base to strengthen technical capabilities across the region through skills development, knowledge transfer and closer collaboration with local industry partners. The company believes these initiatives will contribute to building a more resilient and sustainable clean energy ecosystem while supporting the continued growth of Africa’s renewable energy sector.
