Tobechukwu Arize’s PowerLabs Helps Reduce Energy Costs and Improve Resilience

Nigerian entrepreneur Tobechukwu Arize is positioning PowerLabs at the forefront of industrial energy management, developing technology solutions designed to help businesses gain greater visibility over energy consumption and improve operational efficiency.

Headquartered in San Francisco, PowerLabs was established in 2023 with a mission to address one of the most pressing challenges facing commercial and industrial operators: managing energy costs while maintaining reliable operations. As organisations increasingly seek to optimise energy performance and strengthen resilience, the company is providing tools that deliver real-time insights into energy use across multiple power sources.

At the core of PowerLabs’ offering are two integrated products. The Pai Enterprise Sensor enables organisations to monitor all energy inputs through a single device, providing a consolidated view of consumption across facilities and operations. Complementing the hardware is the Pai Enterprise Dashboard, a digital platform that centralises energy performance data and presents actionable insights through a unified interface.

Together, the solutions allow businesses to track energy usage in real time, identify inefficiencies, and make data-driven decisions to reduce costs and improve operational reliability. The platform is designed to support organisations for which an uninterrupted power supply is critical, including manufacturing plants, healthcare facilities, fitness centres and other energy-intensive enterprises.

The company’s focus reflects a broader market trend as industrial and commercial energy users face mounting pressure to improve efficiency, manage rising energy expenditure and meet sustainability objectives. Demand for digital energy management technologies has accelerated in recent years, driven by the need for greater operational visibility and more effective resource utilisation.

Arize brings more than a decade of experience in technology, analytics and business strategy to the venture. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, where he earned a degree in Economics and Management, he began his career in the energy sector through an internship at ResourceKraft Energy Management Solutions in 2014, gaining early exposure to energy monitoring and management systems.

He subsequently joined Google, where he spent seven years in a series of leadership positions spanning analytics, account management, product marketing and global strategy. His roles included Analytics Lead for Nigeria, Account Manager for Africa, Product Marketing Lead for the continent, and later Global Strategy and Operations Lead.

Before launching PowerLabs, Arize worked within Google X, Alphabet’s innovation and research division, where he led partnership development and go-to-market initiatives. The experience provided a foundation for the creation of PowerLabs, which is now focused on helping organisations unlock greater value from their energy data while improving efficiency and operational resilience.
