Saudi Energy Deepens Digital Push with Kraken AI Partnership
Saudi Energy has formalised a strategic alliance with Kraken Technologies Limited, advancing its ambitions to embed artificial intelligence across its operations and accelerate digital transformation in the utilities sector.
Under the agreement, the parties will establish a Riyadh-headquartered joint venture, alongside Saudi Energy’s acquisition of a minority stake in Kraken. The move signals a targeted shift towards AI-enabled operating models, as the company seeks to modernise its infrastructure and enhance system-wide efficiencies.
The joint venture will serve as the exclusive distributor of Kraken’s cloud-based platform across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), positioning the partnership as a key conduit for scaling advanced energy technologies in the region. Industry observers anticipate that the initiative will enhance local digital capabilities, foster employment growth in both the energy and technology sectors, and stimulate innovation across regional markets.
Kraken’s AI-driven platform provides an integrated operating system for utilities, spanning customer management, billing, service delivery, and data analytics, as well as enabling smart energy applications. The technology currently supports more than 70 million accounts across over 27 countries, underscoring its maturity and global reach.
For Saudi Energy, the partnership represents a strategic investment in digital infrastructure aimed at improving operational resilience, optimising service delivery, and aligning with broader energy transition objectives.
